Our Mission

Welcome baby wants every newborn to have a healthy, hygienic start to life, and we believe no mother should struggle to provide basic necessities for her baby while still recovering from birth.

Our mission is as simple as it is critical: to provide low-income mothers with one package containing all of the items they’ll need for their newborn in the first four weeks of life. For parents living below the poverty line, purchasing things like diapers and wipes is a financial burden often too great to overcome. Add in clothing, hygienic items, baby carriers, and other essential gear and the costs quickly climb to hundreds of dollars many families simply don’t have. As a result, a child may be forced to go without these vital goods.

Studies show there is a negative impact on both the mother and the baby when parents cannot afford the basic necessities. Mothers who struggle to provide hygienic supplies are more likely to suffer from postpartum depression. Without enough diapers and rash creams, babies are more likely to develop rashes, infections, and illnesses from poor sanitation.

Why 4 Weeks?

The first four weeks after delivery is a critical time for both mother and infant. Newborns are susceptible and highly sensitive to the world outside the womb. Mothers are still recovering from the physical and emotional upheaval accompanying birth and new parenthood.

No mother should have to worry about affording essential items like clothing, diapers, wipes, rash creams, and baby carriers; and no infant should have to go without these vital goods. We want mothers to have everything they need within arm’s reach.

Nothing in the Welcome Baby package is a luxury. Each item is an essential piece of the puzzle that is the beginning of life.
